A horrifying text confirmed that a woman had accidentally slept with her brother.
Victoria Hill had always sensed something was unusual about her family background.
Despite growing up with loving parents, she often wondered why she didn’t resemble her father.
She even joked about being the postman’s daughter.
However, her curiosity turned into deep concern when she developed a health condition that neither of her parents had ever exhibited.
In search of answers, Victoria, now 40 and living in Connecticut, decided to take an at-home DNA test.
The results revealed something shocking – she had 23 half-siblings. Digging further, she uncovered an even more disturbing truth: her biological father was not the man who raised her, but rather her mother’s fertility doctor, Dr. Burton Caldwell.
He had been using his own s***m to impregnate women without their consent, deceiving multiple patients in the process.
As if this revelation wasn’t distressing enough, Victoria soon experienced yet another horrifying shock.
A message from an old boyfriend from high school changed everything. After learning about Victoria’s discovery, he decided to take a DNA test himself.
The results confirmed an unthinkable reality – he was her half-brother. He sent her a simple yet devastating text message: “You are my sister.”
Speaking about the moment she learned the truth, Victoria told This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard: “We figured it out, there was a high school reunion, we started sharing info with close friends and fast forward to a dinner and it was at that time that as I’m telling this story, my high school boyfriend, now friend, looked like he was turning something over in his head.”
She recalled how her former boyfriend’s mother had told him that she and his father had undergone fertility treatment.
Given the circumstances, they began to suspect that she may have also gone to the same doctor.
He later confirmed this theory after calling his mother.
“His mother confirmed that the same doctor had performed the same procedure. So then it was a waiting game. We sat there in disbelief that this was something we were entertaining.
“We made jokes, but it felt very surreal. Then in a couple of weeks, he sent me the screenshot that you are my sister.”
The revelation was deeply unsettling. Victoria admitted, “It was just one next thing that hits after another. We still don’t know what is to come.”
She also shared with CNN the emotional turmoil of realizing that her former boyfriend, someone she could have easily married, was actually her sibling.
“I was traumatized by this. Now I’m looking at pictures of people thinking, well, if he could be my sibling, anybody could be my sibling. It has me look back at my whole high school experience through a totally different lens. It tarnishes the whole thing.”
In a heartbreaking confession, she added, “I’ll just put it out there: I was intimate with my half-brother.”
Dr. Caldwell, who recently passed away, had led Victoria’s mother to believe she was being inseminated with s***m from an anonymous medical student.
In reality, he had used his own. Now, Victoria is advocating for changes in fertility laws to prevent other families from facing similar betrayals.
In response to the allegations, Yale New Haven Health released a statement asserting that there was ‘no evidence of Yale New Haven Health’s involvement in the conduct alleged against Dr. Caldwell.’
Their legal team emphasized that his actions took place at his private practice and were ‘unbeknownst to Yale.’
